In 2008, 512 Wenchuan Earthquake, merciless natural disaster, that vanished all in an instant. Countless people lost their lives. Over the years, many children and disables are still having hardships in living and need lots of outsiders' help. Therefore, HKVNSAA selected Sichuan Province as the first place to carry out Education Subvention Program. Mr. Richard LUK. Director, the Director of HKVNSAA, was previously acted as the Director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs in Chengdu. During 512 period, he was appointed to station at Sichuan Chengdu, representing the Hong Kong SAR Government to deal with disaster relief matter. Towards the post-disaster reconstruction work in Sichuan, he has deep understanding about the real needs. HKVNSAA through the human network of Mr. Luk in Sichuan area, we certainly can set a clear goal, target to a specific group and deliver help more precisely. In early Feb 2011, HKVNSAA visited Dujiangyan's【Fraternity School, a special school to let those become physically handicapped after the earthquake share mindset and exchange experience. It aims to create a better atmosphere and environment to help students get away from the dark and rebuild the correct outlook of life. Afterwards, HKVNSAA also visited Mianyang and Beichuan seriously affected area to understand the reconstruction of schools and the difficulties students' encountered. Because of this situation, HKVNSAA formed "HKVNSAA Education Subvention Program" in 2010 to manage donated fund and responsible for the connection and arrangement of donation process. This newly formed association does not use any donated fund for any expense as administration fee. All the donation received will be fully used for supporting those targeted students as defined in the scheme. After last year's fund raising, the subvention program has granted money to a charity organization named "Zhong Guo Xin" for supporting school children in study. So far, 59 students from Beichuan and Mianyang are supported by the program. Apart from supporting those students from the disaster area, HKVNSAA hopes to extend the program to other part in Mainland China in the near future. In Mar 2012, HKVNSAA re-visited those supported students from Sichuan Mianyang and Beichuan. We also contacted some of the related charity organizations from Chengdu to further understand the situation from a southern part of Sichuan, a place where Yi Zu are living, named Liang Shan. We planned to get more information, raise fund and grant money to give a hand to those Liang Shan students supporting on study via our subvention program. With the greatest love and generosity from everyone of us, we should contribute ourselves in any kind of ways, via donation or volunteer, to kindly support the Education in Mainland China. Education Subvention Program Partnership:Beichuan Education Subvention Program:Beichuan Qiang Zu Zi Zhi County Qiang Zu Cultural Communication Center Aiming at giving a full force in helping Beichuan's reconstruction and redevelopment work, a group of volunteers from different parts of Mainland China decide to change from volunteer mode to full-time mode. The team is no longer tided up with a team of loosen volunteers. In fact, it now becomes a registered organisation working for the society. The team's hardwork is being recognized and gains a lot of attention and support from the Government and the Society.
